Emit is series of games where the player
experiences a story while studying English. The production quality
is much higher than one might expect of an educational video game.
The interesting thing about this is that it is packed with Koei's "Voice-kun"
(Mr. Voice) which is a device which attaches to the second controller port
of your Superfamicom and acts as a remote controll for your CD player!
You "train" the Voice-kun with your remote controll, insert one of the
two audio CDs which are included with the game and you are ready to play
Emit. This is a particualry clever way to get around the storage
limitations inherant in cartridge based games. Since leaning a language
without hearing it (the way most Japanese high school students do) is not
very effective, the CDs add an extra level of quality to the game.
It also helps that the Japanese are more serious about voice acting than
Americans will ever be!
