The Dracula series (AKA Castlevania series in the US) goes back 12 years now. It has appeared on at least 10 different systems and shows no sign of stopping since an N64 version is planned for 4Q98/1Q99. I will not go into the history or story line of the game since others have done that work better than I could. Anyone interested in the many variations and versions of this series should visit The Castlevania Dungeon. I will merely show you how the Japanese versions of this series looked. The thumbnails below will lead you to larger scans of the box cover which are optimized for at least 800X600 True Color displays. Some of the scans are a little off center. I did all of these at Kinko's and didn't find the error till I got home. Oh well. I never claimed to be a graphic designer anyway.
It is worth noting that while the US NES
and Genesis versions of these games are considered common carts in the
US, here in Japan some are highly sought after commanding prices up to
$200! Personally, I like the PCE Dracula X version best.
Why? It just seems like the most fun and offers a very "pure action" version
of the game with great graphics.
